Zoning Board approves two variances; settles ADU ownership question
Zoning Board of Adjustment · Meeting of August 4, 2026
NH GOFFSTOWN — Goffstown Zoning Board unanimously approves variances for an accessory dwelling unit and lot-line adjustment. Chairman Denise Langley's board voted 5-0 to allow an ADU above a detached garage at 130 Normand Road on a 0.90-acre lot, against the required 2 acres. Member Bruce Buttrick argued the town's ordinance conflicts with state law, which prohibits additional lot-size restrictions on ADUs for existing lots of record.
The board also approved a 5-0 variance for a lot-line adjustment affecting five lots off Sarette and Allard Park roads, with four remaining on a privately maintained road, conditioned on waiver of municipal liability and Planning Board and Select Board approval. The town ordinance was amended in 2026 to remove owner-residency requirements for ADUs.
