State advances plan for removal of Hadley Falls Dam

NH GOFFSTOWN — Select Board approves Hadley Falls Dam removal plan and switches recycling provider. Corey Clark, Chief Engineer at the NHDES Dam Bureau, presented a state plan to remove Hadley Falls Dam beginning in 2027 using $4.5 million in Aquatic Resource Mitigation funding, with contaminated sediments posing no human health risk and Glen Lake levels remaining unaffected. The Board unanimously authorized DPW Director Adam Jacobs to negotiate a new recycling contract with Waste Management, projecting approximately $11,000 in first-year savings.
Executive Councilor John Stephen pledged state oversight throughout the dam removal implementation.
