Select Board Rejects Farm Road Discontinuances

NH GOFFSTOWN — Select Board rejects proposal to discontinue maintenance on nine farm roads. Goffstown's five-member board voted unanimously to keep nine road segments, including Martin Farm Road and Up-A-Way Farm Road, off a warrant article that would have stopped town maintenance. Public Works Director Adam Jacobs had recommended discontinuing maintenance to reduce overtime and materials costs, but speakers at the meeting emphasized that the roads serve working farms, including Benedict Dairy and Clark Ridge Farm, and that discontinuance would impair agricultural operations and decrease property values.
The board also advanced three budget articles for town vote, including $450,000 for road maintenance and $430,000 for a solid waste packer.
