Goffstown approves Eversource pole storage yard at Greggs substation

NH GOFFSTOWN — Goffstown Planning Board unanimously approves Eversource pole storage yard at Mast Road. The board approved a conditional use permit and amended site plan allowing Eversource to repurpose a decommissioned substation into a 13,560-square-foot pole storage facility serving Goffstown and Bedford. The facility will store seven to ten pole bunkers, each holding 20 to 25 poles, for emergency outage response.
Eversource representatives Jeremy Belanger of TF Moran and Kurt Nelson addressed board concerns about landscaping, drainage, and chemical contamination, and committed to installing oil-spill containment hoods and phasing out creosote and CCA-treated poles in favor of DCOI. Approval is conditional on Conservation Commission review.
